Why Tony Sacco’s pizza tastes better…
The origin of modern pizza back to Naples, Italy, nearly 500 years ago. At the time, they used coal to fire their ovens. At Tony Sacco’s Pizza, we do too!
We burn anthracite coal from Pennsylvania, that creates twice the energy per pound as wood, and burns cleaner. Because of the higher cooking temperature that coal provides, our oven generates an internal temperature of over 1,000 degrees, allowing us to cook the pizza very quickly and create a perfect crust without overcooking the toppings. Also, the coal also gives our pizza an unmatched, unique taste.
But there are other things… Like our unique pizza sauce, made with real Italian plum tomatoes that have very little citric acid and none is added so all you taste is the tomato. The pizza sauce stays nice and bright red, as the pizza dough cooks quickly, without overheating the sauce. We also filter all our water, and stubbornly insist on using only the best quality ingredients, like fresh garlic, basil and mozzarella.
